Reduce Recovery time by 50%

When Randy Couture said that his top 3 supplements he takes are O2 Plus, 4Ever Greens and Xtra Enzymes from XCAP, people wanted to know more about the enzymes and here’s why.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to bounce right back after an injury?

Or even after a hard training session?

When we are young we can fall down, get hurt and the next day we’re back to normal.  As adults, it usually doesn’t work that way.  We need much more time to recover.

I remember as a kid going swimming or playing basketball for 5 and 6 hours straight and the next day going and doing it again.  The recovery time was very quick.

Why can’t adults do this?

As we age, enzyme levels become depleted in our tissues.  These enzymes digest inflammatory debris and help circulation, which speeds repair and recovery.

Studies have shown that enzymes speed healing and recovery.

One author after reviewing 14 different studies using over 1,500 subjects said using proteolytic enzymes cut the length of recovery time in half.

Enzymes are indicated for edema, swelling, and acute injury. They have also been used as digestive aids, for low back pain, disc herniation, reduction of food allergy symptoms, acute and chronic sinusitis, increasing the effectiveness of antibiotics, post surgical trauma/recovery, and as a natural way to destroy intestinal worms.

One doctor observed Karate fighters in his book called “Enzymes and Enzyme therapy.”

Ten karate fighters of both sexes were given enzymes before the event. The second group of ten was given a placebo. All 20 athletes had comparable injuries. Here are the impressive results.

Hematomas disappeared in the treated athletes in 6.6 days where placebo athletes took 15.6 days to heal.

The swelling in the enzyme group disappeared in 4.3 days vs. 9.8 days in the control group.

Restrictions in movement as a result of pain and injury disappeared in 5.0 days vs. 12.6 days for the placebo group. When the injuries suffered in the karate competition became inflamed it took 3.6 days to subside vs. 10.6 for the control group.

For the people who were injured and were unfit for work, the enzyme group was able to return to work in 2 days whereas the placebo group was unable to return to work for 5.3 days.

Although this is a small study, it is consistent with all the other studies, which show injuries heal faster, recovery time being reduced to 50% in many cases.

To get these types of results from enzymes, you must learn how to use them right.

First all enzymes are not alike. Sometimes the life or activity of the enzymes has expired before it even gets to the store.

I heard a story about how a formula of enzymes for a major nutraceutical company caused a big stir during manufacturing. The plant manager was happy that the product was so good it was actually warm as it was bottled.

It was so hot that the workers had to wear gloves to handle the tablets.

Little did the manager know that if the tablets were warm, they were spending their enzymatic potential on the raw materials in the tablet. They were actually digesting the tablet. When the product was tested for enzyme activity, there was little to no activity in the tablet six months later.

Contrast that to XCAP’s enzyme product called Xtra EnZymes, which are produced by Biotics Research and have met label claims eight years after the expiration date.

You see enzymes are a whole field unto themselves and certain precautions have to be taken to make sure they are active when you take them.

Some of the reasons people don’t get results with enzymes are poor manufacturing which is common.  This is why you should take enzymes from XCAP.

Taking enzymes with food is another reason.  If you take them with food the enzymes act as digestive enzymes working on the food rather than getting out into your tissues.

For best results, take the enzymes 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after eating.

Another reason people don’t get results is that they don’t take enough.

After an injury occurs, Adults should take a loading dose of 10 tablets, take more if your large and you have experience with the product. Then take 5-7 tablets 3 or 4 times per day between meals.

If you are taking enzymes to help with recovery, adults typically take 6 to 8 before practice and another 6 to 8 after practice.

If a patient is anemic I generally don’t use enzymes until the anemia is fixed.

I also take 1 to 2 B12 Nitro’s per day when I am using enzymes to replace folic acid.

One incident really stands out in my mind when it comes to enzymes.  A pro football player received a very bad thigh bruise when he got a direct hit from a helmet.  The next day he could not walk and was not expected to play in the next week’s game.  Now I have seen many bruises, but this was the worst I have seen.  He started taking 40 enzymes in divided doses per day produced by Biotics Research and in 2 days, he was back at practice.  He was so impressed that he continued taking 8 enzymes before and after practice.

I have also known many boxers who load up on enzymes to reduce swelling in their face and basketball players who swear by these enzymes because they say their ankles and knees feel 10 years younger when they use them.

This double-blind study investigated the use of enzymes in ankle joint injuries. The enzyme group experienced faster reduction of swelling, faster return to joint mobility, and decreased pain during resting or movement as compared to the placebo group. The time during which patients were unable to work or train was significantly shorter (reduced by some 50 %) with enzyme therapy.

A preparation containing trypsin and chymotrypsin was tested on professional football players. “Two separately conducted double blind trials have confirmed the value of proteolytic enzyme therapy in resolving inflammation and associated edema and increasing recovery rates. The overall reduction in recovery time is 1. 3 days for hematoma and 2.4 days for sprains – an approximate 27% decrease in recovery time.”

This double blind study of patients sustaining sports injuries found considerably less bruising, reduced swelling, a quicker return to function and fitness to resume play in the proteolytic enzyme treated group.

Since orally administered enzymes have very few undesirable side effects, this treatment is suitable for all patients with sciatica due to intervertebral disc herniation. A double-blind placebo-controlled trial of 71 individuals with finger fractures found that treatment with proteolytic enzymes significantly improved recovery.

A double-blind placebo-controlled study of 44 individuals with sports-related ankle injuries found that treatment with proteolytic enzymes resulted in faster healing and reduced the time away from training by about 50%.
